With a marketing effort that was lacking, and facing a rise in competition from a slew of attractions and destinations that had targeted the same key California markets, Solvang feared it was fading into the memories of Californians. Solvang hired DVA, and we did more than just tilt at windmills. We set out to remind travelers of the unique experience offered by this “Little Denmark,” which had made Solvang a favorite day-trip destination for generations. We crafted a new identity with the development of a logo and a campaign that captured the distinctive qualities that make the town so memorable. The campaign helped put Solvang back on the map and onto the itineraries of travelers from near and far.
